Mama Za Za

Do you play the lottery? I rarely do. I might buy a scratch off every once in a while, when Brent and I are driving to Indiana and hit a gas station for fountain drinks. We've won a handful of times. My grandma plays every week. For as long as I can remember. And my friend Shawn says that he knows he will win the Mega Million. So he and his boyfriend Kyle come over tonight and we discuss fate, lottery, and the Ouija Board. Apparently they talked to the Ouija board and Mama Za Za from the amazon channeled herself into the conversation, guiding them into several messages about how yes, Shawn will win the lottery in the next two weeks. We laughed and laughed, at the obsurdity, and yet I got goose bumps because he tells me someone was in the room, they could feel the presence. The whole idea of fate and spirits intrigue and yet entertain us. We start discussing what he will do with the money-Europe vacation home, invest in our next film, a new violin. Ah, the fun of imagining easy money, the hope of luck. Then I suggest its possible that Mama Za Za was actually referring to his own lottery, the riches to be made doing his passion. He explains that he specifically asked her about the Mega Million. Make no mistake, Mama Za Za sees the future. We explore the idea that he mine as well be flushing his money down the toilet, Kyle rolls his eyes at Shawn's confidence in this idea that the lottery is some sort of promise. Then I suggest it is no different then throwing your money down on a coffee a day. We ponder and realize, yes, it's true. When they leave I wish him luck. Later I text him and tell him to ask Mama Za Za what my future holds. She seems to give people hope.
