Open Letter to Old Navy's Tom Wyatt

Dear Tom Wyatt,

This is a letter written to you on behalf of the Facebook Group "Dear Old Navy, Mannequins are Creepy". The group was formed today as a social experiment to see how many people are willing to say they do not like the use of mannequins in your commercials. As an actor, it saddens me to see that you are not paying actors to work. But even more, that you feel that human beings should feel connected to plastic models that look nothing like the average human body.

Definition of mannequin: a life-size dummy used to display clothes

Definition of human: Humans are bipedal primates belonging to the species Homo sapiens (Latin: "wise man" or "knowing man") in Hominidae, the great ape family.[2][3] They are the only surviving members of the genus Homo. Humans have a highly developed brain, capable of abstract reasoning, language, introspection, and problem solving.

I find that by using a mannequin for your ads you are actually creating distance between the consumer and your product.

Over time I believe that you will see the number of fans on the Facebook group to increase.

Sincerely,
Jessica Hardy
Founder of the Facebook Group "Dear Old Navy, Mannequins are Creepy"
