Brighton, MA

We went to the Dark Room last night and listened to some great music. Brighton, MA is the name of the last band we heard and I was really engaged by their sound...everything. They will be big. It's so neat to hear music like that in an intimate space instead of trying to see through a stadium crowd. And someday it will be like that for them. You can listen to them here.

Their music reminds me of feelings that one might have about their hometown. Not surprising as the name of the band is the lead singer's hometown and on their myspace page they say that their music is nostalgic.

"BRIGHTON, MA is a band from Chicago, IL which could, at first glance, seem confusing. The band’s name is a reference to the town singer/songwriter Matthew Kerstein was born in, and is as much a general statement about nostalgia and "going home again" as it is an actual location. The band comprises five members: Kerstein, guitarist Jim Tuerk, guitarist Devon Bryant, bassist Matt Priest and drummer Sam Koentopp. Their self-titled debut record finds these strong musical personalities blending with easy camaraderie to paint backdrops for Kerstein’s mature songs of warning and optimism."

On another note: I am going to a Star Wars wedding tomorrow with a friend who asked me to be her date (well, let's not lie, I begged, a good blogger needs good material). Please check back this weekend for pictures and fun.
