White House Denies Nomination Based on "Miers Evangelical Beliefs"

George W. Bush has suggested that Harriet Miers' Evangelical Christian beliefs are one of the reasons that he nominated her for Supreme Court. However, the white house press secretary, Scott McClellan explained that the decision was based on Miers' character and "who she is".

"We did not choose Miers based on her religous preference, " states McClellan "Our decision was based on her ability to make strong decisions."
