Just called a company to verify their contacts. Went a little something like this.

ME: "Is Barabara Bean still with you?"

THEM: "She's dead."

ME: "Oh. Oh okay."

Do I say 'I'm sorry'. I think for a moment. I decide not to. It's awkward b/c I've paused too long.

ME: "Thank you goodbye."
